Behind every beautiful thing, there’s some kind of pain

The trilogy of drawings I’ve made of a Dutch woman embraces and portraits three cathartic experiences. This is “Pain”. Beauty and pain go hand in hand because in order to grow, one must endure interior and exterior hardships. In “Pain” the model is seen from behind because she needs to deal with her hardships on her own power. If she finds the strength to overcome her pain, she might reposition and face life head first. She cherished her pain, however, acknowledging that it is essential for any human to accept and caress it.
